Tempura prawns

Prawns in a crispy tempura batter.

These prawns fried in tempura batter are utterly delicious. Quick and easy yet equally tasty, these tempura prawns are perfect either on their own with a soy sauce dip, or used as part of another dish, like in a wrap for lunch!

Measure 150ml of ice cold water into a mixing bowl. Add 1 sachet of tempura batter mix and stir in quickly using a fork, until the flour is wet. Do not whisk it, as it is normal for the batter to not be entirely smooth.

Place the prawns into the batter, coating them evenly. Drain off any excess mix before the next step.

Add oil into a pan, with at least 5cm depth of oil. Fry the battered prawns until they are a golden brown, ensuring both sides are fried evenly.

Once cooked, remove from the oil and drain on a wire rack or kitchen towelling paper. Serve immediately, with a dip of Soy Sauce on the side.
